The Green Man - Original lino print A3
'The Green Man' is an original hand carved hand printed linocut.
He is inspired by a meeting with a Druid whom I met in Dorset.
The Green Man is a legendary being primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of new growth that occurs every spring. The Green Man is most commonly depicted in a sculpture, or other representation of a face which is made of, or completely surrounded by, leaves.
Paper size is A3
Print is 20cm x 30cm
Each design is drawn by hand straight onto the lino block or in my sketchbook, then I use specialist tools to hand carve the lino. The lino is inked with a roller, and then transferred onto paper by hand using a Baren.
These prints are individually hand printed and each one will have minor variations and imperfections, part of the charm of lino printing.
The image is printed using Caligo Safe Wash Ink on to 130GSM cartridge paper.
